I recall that soon after I reached the age of twenty-one, I received a mind blowing opinion; it came from my father, a staunch republician. I was complaining abut a law or what a politician had said that they would do for us if elected. When my father heard me bellyaching; as he called it, he said, "Are you registered to vote?" When I said no, his immediate response was then you have no right to complain if you're not going to do anything about your complaints. I've been voting ever since.
It seems as if the pololticians have not changed. They still sound more like telling us what we want to hear, instead of what they actually hope to accomplish. Now I realize that a president has to fight Congress and compromise often. My complaint is not with that. I have trouble wondering who the presidential candidate is running for; we the ordinary citizen. or for their respective political parties.
I bring this up because all the Democratic Pary wanting Sen. Hilary Clinton do drop out of the race so Sen. Barrack Obama can run agaisnt Sen. John McCain. Who runs this country? We the people? Or the political paarties?
As I understand it the electorial college are delegates who are supposed to vote for the candidate that their constituents have voted for or hope to see in office. But I wonder, as has happened with the Florida and Michigan Blunder, was this a way to keep Sen. Clinton from receiving more votes than, Obama? How can we be sure that an honest straight shooting election, where thecandidate is the People's Choice?
I guess the only choice I have is to keep voting, praying, and keep voicing my concerns; thus maybe then some of our representatives taht at least one woman loves her country enough to not allow any man or woman to control we the citizens.
I have not decided who I will vote for yet. Until I hear someone say they will do everything possible to follow through with their campaign pledges and ignore the ditatorship of his/her party, then that may be the one I vote for and fight for the White House.
